Melissa Patrick - 7th and 8th grade Language Arts
My name is Melissa Patrick and I have been part of the LBCS family since 2018. I fell in love with the community at LBCS immediately and am so glad to continue to learn and grow as an educator with such amazing staff and families. I am looking forward to being your child’s Language and Literature teacher this school year. Prior to joining the LBCS team as the Physical Education and Reading Intervention teacher, I spent 4 years teaching middle school Language and Literature at Franklin School in Loomis. I was born and raised in Southern California, where I attended California State University of Northridge, and received my bachelors in Liberal Studies. I went on to obtain my Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from Pepperdine University in 2005. I am an avid reader and have a passion for literature. I’m looking forward to delving into complex text, building reading stamina and vocabulary, and exploring writing techniques with students this year.
My husband and I decided to relocate to the Auburn area in 2014 to be closer to family and raise our children, Lilly, Weiland, and Colton, in a beautiful, rural setting. Most weekends we can be found on a Loomis soccer field watching our children play the sport our entire family loves. When we are not at the soccer field, we spend most of our time outdoors. As a family, we enjoy boating, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, kayaking, martial arts, or just hanging out.
I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the lives of children, and teaching allows me to share my passion for learning, and inspire the students I work with to be lifelong learners. I truly believe each child is capable of learning, and achieving success in my class, through hard work and dedication and I am looking forward to an amazing year.
